  Welcome to The Human Side of Safety Hi there—and thanks for stopping by. My name is Ed Klein, and I’m the Heath, Safety, Security, and Environmental Director for a marine construction company. I’ve spent nearly 40 years in the industry , including the past 32 years dedicated to safety , and if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: People are not a problem to control—they’re the solution to understand. Over the years, I’ve seen how traditional safety methods, while well-intentioned, often fall short when it comes to addressing the real-world complexity of how work gets done.
